Port driver installation
If GenijoyApp connects to the device normally, you do not need to install the driver manually. Follow these steps only if the device is not recognized.
A driver is a program that helps Windows recognize and connect to the SR3. This guide is for a Windows computer. The goal is to get the computer to recognize the device, then return to the player and connect.
Before you start: Have a Windows computer, the SR3 and a Type-C cable that supports data transfer ready. All downloading, extraction and installation below takes place on the computer, not on a phone.
Step 1: Install the port driver
- Visit the Genijoy website. Under Software → PC software, download Tools & Drivers. If the site is in Chinese, these labels are “软件 → PC 端软件” and “工具&驱动”.
- Extract the downloaded archive into a folder, then open Ch340 Driver inside it (the SR3 USB connection driver). Do not run the installer directly inside the compressed archive.
- Open the folder for your Windows version, double-click SETUP.EXE (the installer), and follow its prompts to complete installation.
Not sure which Windows version you have, or how to extract an archive?
- Check your version: Hold the Windows logo key and press R. Type
winverand press Enter. The window shows your Windows version. - Keyboard instructions: “Windows logo key + R” means pressing the two keys together; do not type a plus sign. Type
winverwithout the backticks surrounding it in this guide. - Extract the files: Right-click the downloaded archive and choose Extract All, or your archive application's Extract to… option. Then open the extracted folder.
- If the driver also distinguishes 32-bit and 64-bit: Search for System Information in the Start menu, open it and check System Type.
x64means 64-bit;x86means 32-bit. You only need this if the installer package asks you to choose.
Step 2: Connect the device and check the port
- Connect the SR3 to your computer with a Type-C data cable. It must support data transfer; a charge-only cable cannot connect the device.
- Press Windows logo key + R, type
devmgmt.mscand press Enter to open Device Manager, which lists devices recognized by the computer. - Find Ports (COM & LPT) and expand it with the small arrow on the left. Look for an entry such as USB-SERIAL CH340 (COM12).
CH340 is the connection chip's name, not a code you need to enter. The full name may vary slightly between drivers. Double-click the entry and, on the General tab, confirm that Device status says This device is working properly. Then return to GenijoyApp to connect.
What is the COM number for? It is the connection number Windows assigns to this device. If software asks you to select a port or serial port, and your device shows COM5, select COM5 in that software. COM12 in the picture is only an example; do not copy it.
If GenijoyApp has already connected automatically, you do not need to record or enter a COM number. The number can change when you use a different USB socket. Check it again only when you need to select a port manually.
Step 3: Return to GenijoyApp and connect
Leave the USB cable connected and reopen GenijoyApp. Once the app shows the device as connected, you are done. You do not need to reinstall the driver.
If the app is connected but the holder does not move, check the device's power adapter, side switch and whether the speed is set to 0%, then make sure playback has started. Successful driver installation does not make the device move immediately.
Still cannot find the device?
| What you see | What to do next |
|---|---|
| No Ports category, or no new entry after plugging in | Reconnect the cable, try another USB socket or a data-capable cable, and confirm driver installation completed |
| A yellow exclamation mark beside the device | Double-click it and read Device status. An error remains; a COM number alone does not prove installation succeeded |
| Several COM numbers, and you cannot tell which is the SR3 | Stop playback first, unplug the SR3 USB cable and note which entry disappears. The corresponding entry that returns when you reconnect is the SR3 |
| Device status is normal, but the player is not connected | Reopen the player. If it requires manual port selection, choose the SR3's current COM number |
Once recognized, return to the SR3 USB connection guide. Computer recognition does not mean the servos have power: connect the device's power adapter and turn on its side switch to enable movement.
Still stuck? What should I send to support?
Provide the following so support can identify where you are stuck:
- Your Windows version and the step in this guide where you got stuck.
- A screenshot of the device's Device status in Device Manager. If no device entry appears, capture the current list.
- A screenshot of any GenijoyApp or installer error, including the full error message.
- Whether you tried different USB sockets or cables, and what happened afterward.
Example: “Windows 11, stuck at step 2. There is no CH340 entry. I tried two USB sockets with the same result. Device Manager screenshot attached.”
